Dennis Martire Grows From Government Degrees To Labor Union Leadership

Dennis L. Martire

Back in 1986, Dennis Martire earned his Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College. His degree focused specifically on government. Four short years later, Martire began what would become a lengthy tenure with the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA).

Martire is a member of local union #1058 out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He’s also the vice president and regional manager of the mid-Atlantic region of LIUNA. But this elected role — which he stepped into in 2002 — did not occur overnight. Rather, it was the product of 12 accumulated years of success and service to LIUNA.

Martire began with the organization in 1990 as an international representative for the organization’s jurisdictional disputes department. Shortly thereafter, he became assistant director then assistant for its construction department. By early 2000, Martire grew into the position of assistant regional manager of the mid-Atlantic department then earned his current role two years later. With a government degree in hand, Martire grew in three decades to be an esteemed leader in an elected role with LIUNA. He now makes a difference regularly for hundreds upon hundreds of laborers in the mid-Atlantic area, where he also resides (in northern Virginia) with his family.
