Dennis L. Martire’s career is defined by his unwavering commitment to advocating for laborers’ rights and creating opportunities for workers. Since joining the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) in 1990, Martire has held various roles, each marked by his dedication to improving conditions for the workforce. He currently serves as Vice President and Regional Manager for LIUNA’s mid-Atlantic region, a position he has held since 2002.

One of Martire’s hallmark achievements was his leadership during the Route 495 Hot Lanes Project. This large-scale infrastructure effort offered him the opportunity to bring hundreds of construction workers under the umbrella of LIUNA Local 11. Through education and negotiation, he demonstrated the value of unionizing, ultimately securing better wages and improved conditions for these workers. This victory stands as one of the largest union successes in Virginia’s construction history.
